The third and final webinar of a series of three online events on Data Governance, organised by the Network of Tax Organisations (NTO)

In case you missed it...

Find here insights from the first webinar "Data Governance at a Glance: from Theory to Practice".

And here from the second event "Data Governance in Action: the Road to Data Quality".

The data governance webinar series provided a concise overview of the topic and its practical application within a tax administration context.  In this last webinar the first intervention will showcase key concepts from the comprehensive MOOC course developed by the NTO. Emphasising the importance of establishing clear data ownership, quality standards, and security protocols. It will explore fundamental principles such as data lineage, metadata management, and the creation of a robust data governance framework. Participants will understand how these elements contribute to data integrity and reliability.

The second intervention transitions to real-world application with the case of India, focusing on lessons learned from data management within tax administration. It will highlight the challenges of integrating disparate data sources and the crucial role of data analytics in informed decision-making. The discussion will cover strategies for improving data accessibility, enhancing data accuracy, and fostering a data-driven culture. Key takeaways including the necessity of implementing standardized data definitions, automating data validation processes, and leveraging data visualization tools to extract actionable insights. The webinar underscores how effective data management can streamline operations, improve compliance, and ultimately enhance the efficiency of tax administration processes.

About the NTO

The Network of Tax Organisations (NTO) continues the efforts to facilitate peer-exchange and collaboration as part of NTO value proposition 1: to develop a vibrant platform for peer exchange and collaborations among its members.

The NTO aims to develop this vibrant platform for peer exchange and collaboration not only at the Secretariat level of its ten member tax organisations, but also among the tax authorities affiliated with NTO members – examples are former NTO webinars on contemporary issues of interest to tax administrations, like tax compliance and cryptocurrencies, tax and gender, and environmental taxes, among others, which have brought together officers from these tax administrations to share their knowledge and national experiences.
