Outcome Statement
The Network of Tax Organisations (NTO) will host its 2nd Technical Conference from 5 to 7 of September 2023 in a hybrid format in Cape Town, South Africa. Under the theme “Digitalisation of Tax Administrations and Contemporary Issues”, the event is expected to bring together more than 500 participants from more than 100 countries exchanging best practices related to the digital transformation of tax administrations around the world.
Background
Technological innovation has resulted in dynamic and disruptive changes in the tax ecosystem bringing both opportunities and challenges to tax administrations. Complex business models on e-service platforms, block-chain technologies, and other novel initiatives are forcing tax administrations into digital transformation – having to use electronic devices as well as information and communication technologies (ICTs) to address these challenges. E-administration among tax authorities has been on the rise and been further accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the course of three days, the 2nd NTO Technical Conference will feature presentations, interactive panel discussions, break-out sessions, and workshops in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and French.
The objective of this 2nd NTO Technical Conference is to shed light on the current state and required future steps regarding the following topics:
• Challenges and opportunities for the digital transformation of tax administrations
• Tax compliance and enforcement technology
• The impact of emerging technologies on revenue administrations
For any further questions, please contact nto.conference@taxcompact.net.
Please note that the participation in the conference is by invitation only.
During the 1st NTO Technical Conference in October 2021, more than 500 participants identified cooperation opportunities among tax administrations and other stakeholders under the motto “Building stronger partnerships to fight tax-related illicit financial flows (IFFs)”. The conference served as a starting point to continue the discussion and promote strategic and broader collaboration towards tackling financial crimes. Please find the report on the 1st NTO Technical Conference here.
